Burundi Completes Upgrade of Banknotes Series With 1000 Francs Featuring RAPID® Security Features and ENDURANCE™ Durable Paper

La Banque de la République du Burundi has now upgraded the entire banknote series with improved paper substrate and security features from Crane Currency.

The improved substrate is Crane Currency’s ENDURANCE™ durable banknote paper.

The improved security features include the RAPID^® micro-optic security thread, now on all five denominations in the series (500, 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10000 Francs).

The micro-optic feature displays fluid and highly visible movement behind the letters ‘BRB’ and the head of a cow, a respected symbol of wellness and beauty recognized throughout Burundi. With only a slight tilt of the banknote, the bands in the RAPID feature move up and down behind the static letters ‘BRB’ as the face of the cow shimmers.
